Friday night we went to an upscale Italian restaurant called Mondo's. It had a 4.6 out of 5 rating. Nancy had chicken marsala which she claimed was delicious. I had veal parmigiana. Frankly, I've had better at a diner. Yesterday was a maintenance day, laundry, shopping, etc., and a little driving around town sightseeing. Chinese buffet for dinner.
Today we slept late, bathed the dogs, and drove to Claremore, about 40 minutes from here and spent a few hours visiting the Will Rogers Memorial Museum. For those of you too young to have heard of him, he was a humorist born in 1879, a little more than 1/4 Cherokee, who was the most sought out speaker the nation ever had. He was a cowboy, a trick roper, a movie star, radio personality, newspaper columnist, and a humanitarian who assisted the needy all around the world. He said "I never met a man I didn't like". He met with presidents, common people, and picked on Congress with honesty and humor. "When Congress makes a joke, it's a law. And when they pass a law, it's a joke."
He was also an early advocate of air travel, traveling around the world helping people, and meeting with Kings and Queens (as in royalty 😁 ). It was visiting a part of the world he had never seen, Alaska, in 1935 that along with his one-eyed pilot and childhood friend, Wiley Post, that he lost his life in an airplane crash 2 miles from his destination of Fairbanks.
Friends and family created the museum in honor of Oklahoma's beloved native son.
